Foxy Brown Gets Robbed, Fronts Like it Never Happened

News out of New York yesterday centered around an alleged early Saturday morning robbery of Foxy Brown in Brooklyn at the hands of four assailants. But this wasn't your run-in-the-mill chain snatching, this appears to as much a matter of the heart as it is the loot.

The alleged attack was a result of Foxy dumping her boyfriend after finding out he was a pimp. The ex-boyfriend/pimp then apparently called some ladies to come straighten Foxy out, resulting in a beating/weave snatching/robbery.

Foxy, who's on probation and is facing a battery charge of her own, told reporters this morning that she was not robbed of a Louis Vuitton bag, $500 in cash and credit cards. Police refute the claim, saying that Foxy was the victim. They have made an arrest in the case but have no additional information on other suspects.

Several key things stick out about this incident:

1. Foxy is beginning to close in on Adam "Pacman" Jones for hood-styled incidents involving police.

2. The attackers stole her hearing aid. That's just plain wrong, even if she is a rapper.

3. Apparently, it's not as hard out here for a pimp as we were once led to believe.

Domestic Abusers Use Stop Snitchin' as Cover

In the seriously fucked up news department, Ariz. Woman's Face Branded With 'Snitch':

A woman had the word "snitch" burned into her face with a branding iron in apparent retaliation for helping police in a domestic violence case, authorities said.

The brand singed into her flesh during a June 13 attack is 4 to 6 inches long and stretches across her left cheek from lip to earlobe, Mesa police Sgt. Chuck Trapani said Friday...

The woman told police she was attacked by four people, including an acquaintance whose Mesa apartment she was visiting, Trapani said. That acquaintance, Preston L. Valdez, 21, told police the woman was smoking methamphetamine with him shortly before the attack.

The woman said the three others who attacked her were hiding in the bedroom, Trapani said. She said they came out, knocked her unconscious, then cut and shaved large swaths of her hair and branded her, Trapani said. She was treated at a hospital and released.

Two of those who attacked the woman _ James H. Standridge, 34, and, Jackie L. Getz, 26 _ were arrested in a domestic violence case in February 2006 after the woman answered officers' questions about them. The police investigation later led to the removal of a child from the home because drug paraphernalia was found there.

Trapani said a picture of the woman shows that the word on her face had scabbed over and that "snitch" was clearly legible. He said police were searching for the branding iron.

This story is more about meth and domestic abuse than hip hop, but this is the kind of nonsense you align yourself with when you say "Stop Snitchin'" like it meant something.

Yeah, I'd Snitch!

I'd snitch on George Bush, either one, I hate those guys!

I'd snitch on Ronald Reagan, that bloody bastard, if I could just figure out where they dumped his body.

I'd snitch on the Army Corps and all the rest who contributed to the death of New Orleans.

I'd snitch on those cops that pulled guns on Boots Riley for no good reason other than walking while black.

I'd snitch on that security guard over at Cameron Village that was shaking his can of mace as he followed a harmlessly noisy guy a block away.

I'd snitch on your uncle, you know, the one you told me about.

I'd snitch on my neighbor, seriously, I need some dirt on this guy, his tools of lawn beautification and home rejuvenation run day and night and I'm not sure how much longer I can take it!

I'd snitch on myself, but I gave up existentialism in my youth.

I'd snitch on Jesus, cause everybody knows I got a God complex.

I'd snitch on you, but then who'd listen to my triumphant tales of snitchery?

Yeah, I'd snitch!

Michigan Park Shut Down to Avoid Hip-Hop "Family Reunion"

A residential park in Wyoming, MI will be closed today amid concerns from local police that permits obtained to hold a family reunion in the park were actually reserved to hold a large-scale "hip-hop bash."

DJ Skee, who applied for the permit says that the moves of the park and police officials are "racist and biased." The permit was requested for the 'Muhamma Family Reunion,' but the city says it has reason to believe the event is actually the 'Saginaw' or 'Powell Family Picnic,' which has drawn attention and criticism from neighborhood residents in the past.

Skee says the event the event is going to go down, regardless of hostility from other sources.

There are usually five components that are a lethal combo for large scale, peaceful party to go wrong: liquor, good weather, fine women, upbeat music, and too many people. That's not a black or white thing, it's an immaturity thing. I can understand both sides of the story in this situation, but the smart move for everybody would be to make it an annual city event, with sponsorship and security. The community makes money, the city establishes a good rapport with its citizens through a safe party, and they all sing "We Are Family."

Hip-Hop Opera Targets Gun Crime in London

A new project out of South London is using a cinematic opera theme to dissuade youth from gun crime.

Urban Concepts are a project founded by the Safer London Foundation to reduce crime and promote collective education and safety. The Don't Trigger opera weaves dramatizations of gun violence interwoven with footage of actual gun violence victims and relatives of gun crime victims.

The Safer London Foundation partners with London's Mothers Against Guns to produce and promote its message, and has also produced an album featuring some of London's biggest hip-hop acts denouncing gun violence.

Kudos to the BBC for reporting on efforts to curb gun violence rather than just reporting statistics on gun violence.
